Consider: Trusting the Abundance of God

When our world continually shifts and changes and our hope and anticipation give way to anxiety and fear, we can slow down, pause, and consider whether we are trusting God in all the circumstances of life.

Book 4 of the Be Still series, Consider: Trusting the Abundance of God, gives opportunity to cease striving and start recognizing all the ways God abundantly provides.

Why is trusting God important?

Worry could be defined as the response when a desired outcome in a situation conflicts with the outcome that might actually happen. Basically, we want something to turn out a specific way (according to our plans) and worry happens because we know that, in life, things may not happen the way we want.

Life brings difficulties. People let us down. We can experience health issues, financial issues, relationship issues. Accidents. Disasters. Tragedies. Bad things happen. And we can anticipate and worry in between. Without trust in God's abundant goodness, we can sink into grumbling, despair, and even depression.

Does the Bible talk about trusting God?

Yes! Psalm 56:3 says "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you." And as we trust in him, God abundantly provides. He provides wisdom, joy, strength, just to name a few. Consider provides 21 devotions, accompanying Scripture verses, prayers, and prompts to inspire meditation on the ways God abundantly supplies what we need.

A Prayer for trust

Heavenly Father, Jesus tells us to ask anything in his name and he will do it (John 14:14). So today I ask for help in casting all my anxieties on you (1 Peter 5:7), knowing that I will be filled with all joy and peace by trusting you in all circumstances (Romans 15:13). Amen
